Air Operations Logistics Assistant - FTC

What are we looking for?

The Air Operations Logistics Assistant (AOLA) is responsible to the Aviation Logistics Manager (ALM) to support all aspects of the Air Operations Projects and Logistics requirements during the build-up phase, show week and post-show for the period Monday 8th July - Friday 26th July 2024 inclusive (including some weekend working). Where necessary the role will work closely with the (volunteer) Air Operations Facilities Manager. 
The Role requires good practical and problem-solving skills, experience working on an active airfield, the ability to communicate and a willingness to provide generic support to all Air Operations volunteer teams throughout the period of RIAT. 

Your main responsibilities will include:

  • Assist in the movement of equipment / supplies for the build of the Flight Centre, Briefing Hangar, Aircrew Compound & Crew Club. 
  • Assist in the movement of equipment / supplies for the build of the Aircraft Engineering Hub, Aircraft Fuels Office & Air Traffic Control Tower. 
  • Working with the Ground Operations Department, and contractors / suppliers, monitor the installation of equipment/infrastructure, in Air Operations facilities, ensuring it meets with the agreed specification and timeline. 
  • Responsibility for Air Operations vehicle fleet (hire vehicles), including oversight of temporary livery application and fitting of temporary equipment such as radios and lightbars. 
  • Maintaining a high level of situational awareness, such as project / building requirements, to identify issues with the efficiency of the plan or potential hazards to persons or infrastructure. 
  • Manning the Air Operations desks (in the Flight Centre) as part of a rota system throughout Wednesday-Monday of the airfield operational days. 
  • Ensuring supplies of consumables (Water, Tea, Coffee, Milk, Sugar, Squash etc) are available at all Air Ops welfare facilities, and when required, purchasing and restocking supplies. 
  • Recording work undertaken including layout photographs, equipment inventory and lessons learn log.  
  • Promoting the RIAT ‘Total Safety’ culture and reporting potential hazards

About You:

If you have strong administrative skills with the ability to prioritize tasks and consider yourself to be IT literate with a good knowledge of MS Office, we would strongly encourage you to apply.  
 
You must be able to demonstrate that you can manage high workloads and be committed to excellence by taking pride in your work. Experience working in an aviation environment along with airfield driving is desirable. You also need to be physically able to perform manual handling and bulky items.  
A good sense of humour is necessary along with staying calm under pressure. 
 
Full driving licence is required. 

What we will offer:

A salary of £23,690 per annum pro rata.
